Lloyd Edna Wand Lloyd, 96, of Bowling Green, died at 8:40 p.m. June 27, 2011, at the Hospice Center. The Rich Pond native was born Oct. 15, 1914. She was the former manager of The Remnant House when it was downtown on the square and was a member of Three Springs Church of Christ.
She attended school in Kentucky and Indiana, but returned to Warren County to meet the love of her life, Earle Lloyd, to whom she was married for almost 63 years until his death in 2001. as many called her, was a fantastic seamstress and made all her and her clothes. Her love for sewing brought her to go to work as assistant manager of Springfield Woolen Mills in Bowling Green, and she later opened The Remnant House on the square downtown, where she remained until her retirement. She and her husband had a great love of Western Kentucky University sports and attended WKU football and basketball games since the 1930s. She was a faithful charter member of Three Springs Church of Christ and had attended until her health would not allow.
She had a compassionate way and all learned to love her that got to know her. She was a daughter of the late Jesse Ford Wand and Maggie Mae Walters Wand and the wife of William Earle Lloyd. Esad Telalovic ZENICA, Bosnia Esad Telalovic, 65, of Bowling Green and Zenica, died June 26, 2011, in Bosnia. He was born Jan. 2, 1946. He moved to Bowling Green in 1998 and became an American citizen in 2007. After a successful career as a paint contractor, he purchased the Europe Cafe on Old Morgantown Road, which he operated from 2004 to November 2010.
Among his many interests, he was an accomplished chess player who never lost his enthusiasm for the game. SPENCER DEATHS KENTUCKY RETIREMENT SYSTEMS By ROGER ALFORD The Associated Press State Auditor Crit Luallen called Tuesday for stronger oversight by the Kentucky Retirement of trustees in the management of nearly $13 billion in investments. Luallen released a review of the state government retirement systems that included 92 recommendations for improving oversight of investments on behalf of about 330,000 government employees and retirees. The board of trustees requested the audit after questions were raised about how some financial middlemen, known as placement agents, were selected. Luallen said the review found no wrongdoing.
But she said some information regarding the agents will be turned over to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to determine if further investigation is needed. on the information they reviewed, auditors saw no evidence of a to involving placement agents, as has been found in other states, or of conflicts of interest that benefited KRS Luallen said. is there evidence that KRS incurred any additional cost through the use of placement agents.
