Are you looking to add friends on your Nintendo Switch? The Nintendo Switch is great for solo gameplay, but if you've got co-op or multiplayer games, playing with friends just increases the fun. You can add friends by either sending a friend request yourself, or by accepting a friend request someone has sent to you.
Things You Should Know
- Go to your Page (basically a user profile) to send or receive friend requests.
- Ensure you're connected to the internet to send or receive friend requests.
- To add a friend, ask them for the Friend Code, which is a 12-digit number that makes adding friends quick and easy.

Scroll over and down to Search with Friend Code. This is the easiest way to add a friend, provided you have their Friend Code. A Friend Code is a 12-digit number you can use to add a friend. Your Friend Code is located on this page, in small gray text under the various friend request methods.
- You can also add friends by searching for local (nearby) users or by adding people you've recently played a game with. However, adding via Friend Code is the most reliable method.
- If you don't know your friend's Friend Code, ask them to provide it to you so you can add them.

1
Scroll up on the HOME screen until you hover your user icon. When you hover your icon, it will say [name]'s Page.
2
Scroll over to the received friend request button. It's the first button on the page, and if you have a friend request the button will have blue text and say You've received a friend request! along with a number that shows how many friend requests you have.
3
Select the friend request you want to view. If you have multiple friend requests, you can scroll through them. The friend request will show you the other user's avatar, how they added you as a friend, and their play activity.
4
Select Become Friends to accept the friend request. The other user will be added to your Friend List immediately.
- If you don't want to accept a friend request, select Don't Become Friends.
- If a user is harassing you, you can also Block them from the friend request screen.

Some games require you to add friends in a different manner on your Switch. Some of the most popular games that have special instructions for adding friends are Minecraft, Fortnite, and Fall Guys.
- To add a friend on the Nintendo Switch version of Minecraft, you must first sign in with your Microsoft account after launching the game. Once you're signed in, select Play on the Minecraft home screen, then go to the Friends tab. Select Add and then add friends by typing in their Xbox gamertag.[2]
- To add friends in the Switch version of Fortnite, open the game and sign in. In the lobby, click the menu item in the top left (which looks like a blue square with a green notification bubble). Scroll to the Add Friends menu, which has an icon of a person with a plus sign. Search for your friends with their Epic display name, and then select Add Friend to add them.[3]
- To add friends in Fall Guys for Nintendo Switch, open the game and go to your friends list (by pressing the - button) and open your requests (by pressing R). Enter your friend's Epic username and select Add Epic Friend.
